How to Read the Bible Devotionally Pt.Ⅱ

Now that we have sufficiently covered the Minimalist Method in part one let us now consider how to best maximize our time spent in God's word. For our purposes here we focus on Study Bibles and Journaling.       First, consider the Study Bible: As the name suggests it is a Bible with various notes to help the reader understand what it is they are reading. The Study Bible will generally include an introductory page on each book of the Bible that explains who wrote that particular book, when they wrote it, why they wrote it, and to whom they wrote. On the proceeding pages, there will be verse notes on concepts, doctrine, words, or actions found in that chapter.       In my time since I've become a Christian, there has been quite the explosion of Study Bibles; and they don't seem to be going anywhere any day soon. RANSOM: How To Have Better Devotions

For March I wanted to do a series of various evergreen topics of the faith. Today we will be beginning this series with one of the most evergreen topics possible; that being our devotions. (For a fuller understanding of the Bible and how it came to be please watch the Bible Project's video on the matter). Let's see how the Bible defines itself. Turn to 2 Timothy 3:16-4:3 . Based on these verses, how does the Bible define itself? Paul says that all Scripture, both Old and New Testament, is breathed out by God. It is from...

He is my God,& I will praise him, my father's God,& I will exalt him. 2 Samuel 22:31-33 31 as for God, his way is perfect: The Lord's word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. 32 for who is God besides the Lord? & Who is the rock except our God? 33 it is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. 1 Chronicles 16:26-27 For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made heavens. 27 splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling place. Psalm 18:1 I love you, Lord, my strength. Psalm 18:32-33 It is God who arms me with strength & keeps my way secure. 33 he makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights. Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him,& he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, & with my song I will praise him. Psalm 73:26 My flesh and...
